Yep, that's right: A Gringo In Rio

Hello and welcome to my blog, A Gringo In Rio.  My name is Eric and I'm from the quaint little town of Los Angeles.  After living most of my life in that bustling little burg, on the 30th of August, 2010, our family moved to Brazil for a job (my wife's, not mine). We have two kids--Juliana, 7, (going on 16) and Luke, who turns 4 this week--who are stupendous, mischievous, smart, hilarious and fun-loving kids.  One of the things that makes my wife and I so proud is how well they've adjusted to life abroad.

From August 2010 until December 10th, 2012, we lived in the southern Brazilian city of Curitiba, in the state of Paraná.  Then, two weeks before Christmas 2012, we moved to Rio de Janeiro....not the worst situation in the world.  As of this post, we've been honorary Cariocas (the local word for those who live in Rio) for about 3 and a half months and--besides the topography-based traffic--it's a wonderful, and complicated, city.

This blog will just cover my ramblings about living life in another country, my family and other things I/we enjoy: traveling, music, surfing, politics, great food & libations and life by the ocean.

Thanks for checking this out.
